River Towing Services
The core of Marquette Transportation Company is our River Division where we operate line haul vessels between New Orleans and St. Paul on the Mississippi River. We also operate on the Illinois River as far as Chicago and on the Ohio River as far east as Pittsburgh.
This is where we operate our larger horsepower boats between the four and ten thousand horsepower categories. The River Division’s primary business is moving dry bulk commodities and our biggest sector is agriculture

We provide one of the nation’s newest, safest fleets. Together with our Gulf-Inland and Offshore Divisions we offer more than 130 marine vessels, ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 horsepower. The breadth of our fleet means we frequent waterway segments other companies often rarely travel.
Our fleets are regularly upgraded and refurbished to ensure safe, reliable transportation. In addition to being equipped with the latest communications and safety technology, every one of our vessels is piloted certified and experienced wheelmen.

We have strategic partnerships with some of the largest ag companies in the world where we operate the entire deck of horse power for them while they provide the barges and the freight market.
Covered | Uncovered Hoppers
We own over 800 barges (covered and uncovered) and offer one of the least expensive options for moving bulk goods such as coal, sand, frac sand, rock, aggregate, and grain in addition to custom contract towing.
