Marquette Transportation Company is one of the largest, most diverse companies in the industry. Offering a full spectrum of inland marine shipping solutions and supply chain management for bulk commodities, we have the capacity to move just about anything.
Our River, Gulf, and Offshore divisions work cohesively as a holistic transportation system to offer unified, seamless transportation across the U.S. waterways and beyond. With a fleet of 132 boats and over 800 covered and uncovered barges, we have the power to meet our customer’s unique needs.

In an era of skyrocketing fuel costs and environmental concerns, more and more businesses are seeking cleaner, more affordable alternatives to semi-trucks and rail cars. Marine transport is more economical and efficient than transport by truck, rail, or air. On average, transporting bulk goods by water results in a 35 percent reduction in transportation costs.
River Towing Services
The core of Marquette Transportation Company is our River Division where we operate line haul vessels between New Orleans and St. Paul on the Mississippi River. We also operate on the Illinois River as far as Chicago and on the Ohio River as far east as Pittsburgh.
Gulf Inland and Offshore Charters
Marquette’s Gulf inland and Offshore fleets are among the newest in the industry and are regularly upgraded and refurbished to ensure safe, reliable transportation. We transport dry and liquid cargos and we can also handle oversized equipment; with ten of our vessels powered for oilfield service and construction work, dredging support, and anchor-handling.
